The cycle lanes are often full of rubbish and cars are parked in them. The new paint cycle lanes don't make nearly enough difference.

Hostile for cycling. No protected cycling infrastructure. Existing give and take traffic calming have cycle bypasses which are (1) often blocked by bad parking, (2) too narrow for some bikes to fit through.

I emphasise the importance of including protected space for cyclists, consistent with the guidance in DfT Local Transport Note 1/20.The width and directness of this major road into the city would allow for such high quality provision in an area where car ownership is below average and would encourage people to cycle. On street parking needs to removed, with any loading for shops being left to the road (As on Castle Blvd) outside peak times.

there are inconsistencies with the give and take build outs. some allow cycists through, others dont. also some of the junctions near the bottom feel vulnerable.

this road should have a proper segregated cycle route all along it. and the bit leading from st anns well road to hockley should be protected too.
