City centre 20mph zone

As part of the city’s plan for its Covid-19 recovery, we want to grow back greener. That includes doing whatever we can to make it easier for people to travel sustainably, such as walking or cycling.

In 2015, Nottingham City Council introduced 20mph limits in almost all residential areas creating lower speed neighbourhoods, which are more pleasant for all.

Reducing traffic speeds on all city centre roads would create a safer environment for everyone – motorists, cyclists and pedestrians – support a greener Covid recovery and contribute to a more attractive city centre environment.

We are looking at introducing a 20mph speed limit on all roads within Nottingham city centre.
